If you read yesterday's post (or follow the various updates/costests that I've posted on Instagram), you'll know that I've slowly been collecting pieces for Daredevil's season 1 costume. Now I think I've made enough progress to warrant a dedicated post! Some of these are screen accurate, original brand items, whereas others are close-enough alts (either because the originals were impossible to find, or just too expensive to justify buying.)
The Costume DIY Guide created an awesome page identifying all of the pieces used in Daredevil's black suits, which was BEYOND helpful when I was researching this cosplay (they also have guides for a ton of other characters so I'd definitely recommend this site!) The photos in this post are kinda small, but if you click/tap on them they should open full size for you to see in more detail.

The first item - that classic black shirt with red stitching - was actually a very lucky find! At first glance it may look like a screen accurate item, but it's actually an alt that Amazon recommended to me while I was looking for something else! I don't think that the stitching is totally identical to the original shirt, but it's close enough that you'd never be able to tell.
Item #2: Daredevil's black cargo pants. These definitely aren't screen accurate - I didn't even bother looking for the original brand because I knew that I could very easily, and very cheaply, modify any generic brand to match. All I need to do is have the legs taken in to make them slightly more form-fitting and tapered, then replace the flaps on the side pockets with zips. Simples! The Mil-Tec belt, on the other hand, is a screen-accurate item that I found courtesy of the Costume DIY Guide. I looked at all manner of military/canvas belts but this was the only one that matched the original costume.

The gloves are another alt - the originals seem to be impossible to find online, but these will work perfectly while I continue searching. The McDavid compression wrist straps were actually the first screen accurate items I bought for this cosplay (and I believe the red labels were removed for the show, so that's 1 small modification that I'll need to make.)
And here we have another screen accurate item: the McDavid hex forearm guards. These are still readily available on Amazon, but the elbow pads are a little harder to find - and a lot more expensive when they eventually appear! - so I'm still on the hunt for these.
Finally, the mask! I made this from an old cotton t-shirt but I'm not 100% happy with how it turned out; it's kind of sloppy and the knot at the back is actually a separate piece of fabric that I glued on (because the t-shirt wasn't big enough.) HOWEVER, the texture of the cotton fabric looks accurate to what they used in the show, so it has that going for it.🤣 It's fair to say that I'll be replacing this in the very near future.
So as you can see, I don't quite have everything I need for this cosplay, but it's been really fun tracking down the original pieces and sourcing alts where necessary since this is something I've never done before (all of my previous cosplays were custom, so accuracy was never something I had to consider.)
Thanks for reading! I still need to remake the mask, make the baton holsters and track down the boots & elbow pads, but once I do I'll be sure to post an update for you all!! 😊
