Hey everyone, and welcome to my little corner of the internet!
My name is Terabyte and I'm a prop builder-turned-cosplayer from the UK. I've been building replica props since I was a kid, mainly using cardboard and whatever recycled junk I could get my hands on! Even now, cardboard is often my material of choice but I've recently branched out to working with foam, 3D printing and even metal, depending on what the project calls for. Then in 2018 I made my first ever cosplay and I haven't really looked back since!🤣 My biggest passion was always Doctor Who props (that's how I got started in the hobby, I have so many props and gadgets from the show!) but I also have a ton of handmade Harry Potter wands and a couple of props from the Star Wars galaxy - though not nearly as many as I would like!😅 In terms of cosplay, I definitely lean more towards the Marvel/DC side of things - I mean let's face it, who wouldn't want to be a superhero in their spare time?!
I created this blog as a sort of companion to my Instagram page (@terabyteprops), where I can create more detailed posts on the thought processes behind my projects, as well descriptions of how I make my costumes and props - mainly for my own posterity, but if they manage to help other people then even better! Instagram is a much more visual platform that doesn't lend itself well to this sort of content, so that's much better for posting the occasional WIP and photos of the finished products.
I'm aware that some of my Instagram posts can be a little long-winded and I doubt that many of my followers read more than the first few lines. So I figured if I already have a tendency to treat my Instagram posts like blog posts, why not just start an actual blog?? I'm hoping that these posts will be of interest or inspiration to at least some of you and if not, at least now I have somewhere to post all of my inane ramblings! 😜
I look forward to sharing some of my projects with you all!
